King of Spades

The King of Spades (KOS) is a hybrid created by an Indonesian grower named ‘Haji Ulih' (which is why it also goes by the short-form name, 'HU'). The plant is easily distinguished by its spherical leaf shape, redness & unique venation.

Since its quick rise to fame in the rare plant community, the KOS species turns out to have significant level of variation, particularly in the overall leaf shape (e.g. KOS 'Butterfly') as well as the varying amount of sliver in the veins.

 

On top of its vibrant crimson color, our ​KOS mother plant stands out as crème de la crème due to its extreme overlapping top lobes, making it look as though it has a fused sinus. Every leaf is a perfectly round circle, almost symmetrical left and right. We name this mama plant 'Magnifique' to honor its brilliant magnificence.
